Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, otherwise known as, “Vic Takes a Long Look At the Bottom of a Wine Bottle Day.”
Due to the pretend-y nature of the holiday, I try not to waste too much time on treats. I mean so much V-Day stuff is already made i.e. chocolates, conversation hearts, vodka. So with that, I present to you, the easiest salty/sweet treat in the world…
Snap Kisses!
First, a quick anecdote of how these came about…
The year was 1995…
and there was some sort of event at my Montessori school. Not sure what it was, but it was one of those million things they do to keep the parents on their toes. Much to my working mother’s dismay.
Don’t get me wrong, she always did a great job of showing up to all the pointless things she had to. But she was often shown up by the Stepford-wife women that were like Betty Crocker wannabe robots. I doubt I noticed all the passive-aggression happening. At least I didn’t care, as long as someone brought the cupcakes…
So, it’s some stupid event at the school and the moms are starting to trickle in with their various treats and baked goods. When out of nowhere, the head honcho mom (whoever she was, I don’t remember), comes walking in with a cake the size of a house. Oh no wait…not a house… It was the school.
That’s right. This mom made an exact replica cake of the Montessori school, to scale! I’m telling you this cake was like made by the cake boss himself. The thing was so detailed, every damn brick drawn out. Even the scaffolding was etched into it.
The kid of the “Mom of the Year” (self-nominated) comes running in screaming–“Hey everyone! Come see the cake my mom made! Isn’t it so cool?!”
My response–“Oh yea? Well my mom brought the chips!”
…yeaaa…needless to say, my mom was first runner-up for Mom of the Year that year…
(Just kidding, Mom, I love you! Thanks for putting up with me)
Well, it was then decided…we needed a quick and easy treat that I can bring to the school functions. And the salty/sweet concoction was born, the Snap Kiss!
These are literally the easiest thing in the whole world. They don’t pretend to be difficult, they’re not the most flashy or impressive. But holy crap are they delicious. And did I mention easy?
All you need, are the “snap” pretzels (the ones that look like little checker boards), Hershey kisses (or hugs, which I actually prefer), and M&Ms (whichever colors match your holiday!).
Preheat your oven to 175°.
First, you’re going to line a baking sheet with your snap pretzels. Make sure none overlap, you’ll need them laid out nicely. Then, top each pretzel with a kiss.

Throw them in the oven until the chocolate is melted, about 5-7 minutes. You can test by pushing an M&M into it; you should be able to push it all the way down into the chocolate.

Then…you guessed it…push an M&M into each chocolate pretzel.
Wait for them to cool and YOU ARE DONE!
See? I told you. Easiest thing of all time. Plus, they are super cute because M&Ms always have themed bags depending on the holiday, in its corresponding colors.
Try your best not to eat them all before giving them to your Valentine! Or you can just eat them all like I did because I am my own Valentine. That came off sadder than I intended…
Anyway, Happy Valentine’s Day! And more importantly…
